About Aikido Yuishinkai Honolulu

Teaching collage

We seek to further the teaching of Koretoshi Maruyama, the founder of Aikido Yuishinkai.

Yuishinkai Aikido techniques are soft, circular and natural.  Never forced.  By gently redirecting the force of an opponent, the techniques become devastatingly effective.  At the core of Aikido is the Japanese concept of Ki.  Aikido Yuishinkai seeks to unify the Ki of our body and minds with universal Ki; hence, the literal translation of Aikido is “the way of harmony with Ki.”

We are dedicated to discovering a deeper understanding of the natural concepts of Aikido.

We are dedicated to practical and rational excellence in training.  Always seeking to perfect our knowledge of the use of Aikido to improve our lives.

Our classes are taught by sensei, who are still active students.

We are seeking like-minded individuals to join us on this path.

“Peters Sensei introduced me to Aikido in 2007 and it has been a valuable addition to my life ever since. Because of his influence and guidance I continue my Aikido training in my current home in San Diego. I have also had the pleasure to train with Agena Sama and look forward to training with them again upon my next return to Oahu. I am sure you will find their instruction rewarding and perhaps even life changing. Bringing Aikido into my life was a very positive experience; I am very happy to see the dojo opening.”

Sensei, thank you very much for your words of encouragement. I can use all the Ki energy I can get. I have to admit, it’s a little overwhelming to launch a new dojo. You are all welcome to visit anytime.

Sensei, thank you for your comment. Our goal is precise but also practical kata and waza in modern day application. We also try to have fun when we practice.
